filmpro AR app exhibitions – London & Lisbon

with the support of Nesta/Amplified and Arts Council

filmpro presented an exhibition to pilot our augmented reality (AR) App at the Art Pavilion, Mile End as part of Nesta’s Amplified Programme.

filmpro’s artistic director Caglar Kimyoncu working with AR developer Albert Barbu created a prototype that worked as both a creative and an access tool for artists working with moving image in a gallery environment.

As an evolution from its common usage our AR App enabled moving image to trigger synched audio description, sign language and captions with the artwork in physical space, as well as provided additional narrative content. Developed in our creative lab the prototype was first piloted in Lisbon for project VAST/O by Carolina Martins.

filmpro is a grantee of the Nesta Amplified fund. Amplified is a fund from innovation foundation Nesta set up to support cultural and creative organisations seeking to develop digital ideas that generate social impact.

London exhibition took place on 15th January 2020 to 19th January 2020@ the Art Pavilion Mile End presents works from:
Caglar Kimyoncu – what makes you who you are
Michael Achtman – Flow
Chas de Swiet – Fire
TKRDS – Gratitude
Zeynep Dagli – Negotiation between Madness & Sanity
Carolina Martins with Natalie Woolf and João Carola – VAST/O

Lisbon

filmpro developed a partnership with Portugese artist Carolina Martins to provide AR content for her exhibition. The installation was called VAST/O and launched at Atelier Concorde from 25/November to 08/December 2019 in Lisbon. VAST/O was a collaborative project that encompasses various disciplines, including Comics, Animation, Augmented Reality and Graphic Medicine. We created a bespoke version of filmpro’s AR app for this exhibition facilitating the installation of all the technical infrastructure that was needed.
